RESUMEN: La presente investigación tiene por objeto analizar el valor sustantivo de las tesis sustentadas en la Facultad de Odontología de la UCSM, en el Semestre Impar 2015.

Corresponde a una investigación observacional, retrospectiva, transversal, descriptiva y documental. Con tal objeto se evaluaron 55 tesis profesionales de pregrado, en lo que respecta a la naturaleza del aporte y el valor heurístico, indicadores que configuran la variable “valor sustantivo”.

Los resultados mostraron en tesis de titulación de primera especialidad sustentadas en la Facultad de Odontología de la UCSM que, el aporte investigativo fue mayormente cognitivo, con el 72.73%, siendo la tesis de Periodoncia las que exhiben mayormente esta contribución, con el 12.73%. El valor heurístico de las tesis antes mencionadas fue mayormente medio con el 63.64%, siendo las tesis de Periodoncia, Prostodoncia, Odontopediatría y Odontología Preventiva las que mayormente mostraron esta condición.

ABSTRACT: This research has the aim to analize the sustantive value of thesis of titulation of first speciality sustained in Dentisty Faculty UCSM. Impar Semester 2015.

It is an observational, retrospective, sectional, descriptive and documental study. So 55 professional pregraduated thesis were evaluated about indol of contribution and heuristic value, indicators that configure the variable “sustantive value”.

The outcomes show in this type of thesis that, the contribution was mostly cognitive with 72.73%, being the periodontics thesis that evidenced more this kind of contribution with 12.73 %.

The heuristic value of these thesis was mostly middle with 63.64%, being periodontics, prostodontics, odontopediatric and preventive thesis that showed this condition mostly.
